Gate Healing, PLLC: Quality counseling in Austin since 2001
Who we are
Gate Healing PLLC is a counseling practice that focuses on helping individuals with stress, depression, anxiety, relationships, and trauma. We believe that the most important factors for success in therapy are building a trusting relationship with your counselor and gaining insight into your thoughts and behaviors. At Gate Healing, we work hard to earn your trust by listening and understanding your situation without judgment, and by providing honest and consistent feedback. Through exploring your history, choices, and patterns of thoughts and behaviors, we help you gain the insight you need to make positive changes in your life. Our counseling offices are conveniently located in the beautiful West Lake Hills neighborhood of Central Austin.
We can help calm your anxiety
Dealing with anxiety can be a difficult and overwhelming experience. At Gate Healing PLLC, we understand how anxiety can affect your life, and we are here to help. Whether you experience occasional anxiety or ongoing panic attacks, our team of experienced counselors can provide you with effective support and guidance.
We specialize in treating different types of anxiety, including romantic anxiety, social anxiety, and performance anxiety. We believe that effective therapy requires a personalized approach, which is why we take the time to understand your unique situation, including your family history, current circumstances, and anxiety triggers. By tailoring our approach to your personality and needs, we can develop a plan that is easy for you to remember and use, empowering you to manage your anxiety more effectively.
Caring for Austin’s Mental Health
“Where do I get help with saddness? Why am I so tired? I am so irritable, what’s wrong with me? How do I get better sleep? Why am I crying so much? Austin is such a great city . . . why can’t I seem to enjoy it?”
Your mind and your body collaborate to keep you safe and happy, but when something is wrong, they signal us with physical and emotional distress.
We’ve all had hard times, but sometimes things feel a little too difficult, more overwhelming than usual. You just want to feel better, think more clearly, and get more enjoyment out of life and relationships. Now imagine feeling grateful, inspired to excel, and empowered to achieve what you want in your home life, work life, and in your social/romantic life. Counseling helps you enjoy your relationships, get that promotion and/or raise at work, and feel in control of your life again.
If you’re struggling with sadness, exhaustion, irritability, sleep issues, or excessive crying, know that you’re not alone. Your mind and body are trying to communicate with you that something is not right. At Gate Healing PLLC, we understand how hard it can be to cope with emotional and physical distress. We are here to help you find your way back to feeling better and enjoying life.
Online and Telephone Therapy is available
At Gate Healing PLLC, we understand that busy schedules and long commutes can make it difficult to prioritize therapy. That’s why we offer telephone counseling for individuals and couples. With telephone counseling, you can get the support and guidance you need from the comfort of your own home or office.
Research shows that telephone therapy is just as effective as face-to-face therapy. In fact, a study by Reese, Conoley, and Brossart published in the Journal of Counseling Psychology in 2002 found that clients showed equally healthy therapeutic bonds with their therapists via phone counseling. It’s important to note that this therapeutic bond is the best predictor of counseling effectiveness, so you can rest assured that you will receive high-quality counseling services regardless of the format.
Don’t let a busy schedule or long commute hold you back from getting the support you need. Contact us today to learn more about our telephone counseling services.

Buddy, the Therapy Dog: Austin’s favorite helper pup!
This picture really captures him (when he’s awake): Present, intelligent and a show-off. Buddy brings warmth to my office only a dog can provide! Plus, he’s a great listener . . . I mean, look at those ears!
Buddy is a regular presence in my office. He helps people feel at ease. He is quite intuitive, does not bark, and enjoys exploring parks around Austin, especially playing at Zilker Park. If he is not in “therapy-work” mode, he will likely come to say hello, then go to sleep beside me. Sometimes, you’ll find him looking out the window in the waiting room; or sleeping in front of it. Feel free to give him a scratch, he’s super friendly! But, please don’t give him treats since by the end of the day he may not have an appetite for his dinner!
